Jamaican high commission

Registration as a Citizen of Jamaica by virtue of Marriage

Procedure

The application should be made in duplicate on the Registration Form, R1 which may be obtained on the website of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency of Jamaica: www.pica.gov.jm

The Form should be read carefully, then completed and signed in the presence of a Consular Officer at the High Commission or the Jamaican Consulate (Birmingham).

Documentary Requirements:

  • Applicant’s Birth Certificate
  • Official Marriage Certificate
  • Husband’s/Wife’s original Birth Certificate
  • Husband’s/Wife’s current Passport
  • Verification of income e.g. pay slips, company financial statements, employment letter
  • Recent Bank Statement
  • Two (2) passport-sized photographs certified by a Consular Officer at the High Commission or at the Jamaican Consulate (Birmingham)
  • A Tax Compliance Certificate ( If resident in Jamaica)
  • A Police Certificate from country of residence (eg. Criminal Record Bureau (CRB))

Fee:  £176.50 should be made payable via direct bank transfer to the Jamaican High Commission.

An additional fee of £10.00 is required for postage of the completed document upon return from Jamaica.  This must be paid via direct bank transfer.  Further details will be provided by the Jamaican High Commission.
