Naturalisation Of Aliens

Qualifications

  • Be resident in Jamaica for a minimum of five (5) years immediately preceding submission of the application.
  • Be of good character and be financially solvent.

Procedure

  • Applciation form is obtainable from PICA website www.pica.gov.jm or Jamaican Printing Service 77 1/2 Duke Street, Kingston. 
  • The application should be read carefully and signed in the presence of a JP or Notary Public or an official authorised to adminster oaths.
  • Four References are required as sponsors of the application;  these should be Jamaican by birth and should not be a civil servant, a relative, a lawyer or agent of the applicant.
  • Before the submission of the application, notice of the intention to apply for naturalisation must appear in a daily newspaper.  An example of the advertisement is outlined in the final page of the application form.  This Notice should be published on two separate occasions at least one week apart and should be submitted along with the application.

Documentary Requirements

  • Applicant's birth certificate;
  • Applicant's passport on which they originally entered Jamaica and curent passport if applicable;
  • Work permit card and approval letter or work permit exemption certificate;
  • Evidence of Community Actiivties in which the applicant is involved such as service clubs;
  • Two passport size photographs certified by Justice of the Peace or Notary Public or someone authorised to administer oaths;
  • Tax Compliance Certificate;
  • Verification of income in the form of pay slips , empployment or company's financial statement;
  • Recent bank statements;
  • fee of J$ 20, 000 payable at the Offices of the Passport, Immigration and Citiznehsip Agency.  Payment will only be accepted in Jamaican dollars.

N.B. Applicant should note that once application is approved an additonal cost J$1 000 which represents stamp duty is required.

Timeframe 24 months once the application meets all the requirements.
